Veterinary Materia Medica

What's In the Veterinary Materia Medica?

A photographic index featuring over 100 key, common, and minor homeopathic remedies and their symptoms that are used in the homeopathic treatment of dogs, cats, horses, birds, cattle and wildlife diseases.

Each remedy of the veterinary materia medica details the source, veterinary uses, and the factors that improve or worsen the symptoms treated (these are called modalities). The remedies are arranged by Latin name and contain the personality types of pets that may fit and help to confirm the remedy choice in treatment.

Key Remedies

The
polychrests have a wide range of uses for dogs, cats, horses and birds and are regularly used by veterinary homeopaths because of their efficacy in treating a broad range of symptoms in everyday complaints as well as long-term or chronic deep conditions, which are frequently encountered in the treatment of animals.

They're among the earliest remedies to have been discovered and therefore the remedies that have been tried and tested for the longest, with the greatest depth of study and understanding.

You will find that a few of them are also listed under acute remedy choices in the book. Like other remedies polychrests can be used for both acute and constitutional prescribing.

The list of polychrests is always growing. New remedies reach the rank of polychrest when recently discovered remedies come into everyday practice and are found to be the most relevant to the predominant ailments of our time, although the oldest and best known polychrests still remain the foundation blocks of the homeopathic materia medica.

Example polychrest remedies are: Arsenicum, Calc-carb., Kali-carb., Lachesis, Lycopodium, Nat-mur., Nux Vomica and Phosphorus.
